We invite you, our esteemed guests who love journeys and roads and know how to enjoy these journeys, to discover two important values of the Aegean with us. We will spend half of the day in Alaçatı, the region of the Aegean famous for its festivals that attract the most local tourists, and the other half in Sığacık, which is a ‘Slow City’ of Seferihisar, and its streets resembling a film set. We have the chance to live and see the MANDALINA FESTIVAL activities and entertainment held every year in Sığacık.
PROGRAMME
We meet our valued guests at Eşref Girginç Park at 07:00 in the morning and start this pleasant tour. After our free breakfast break on the way, we set off towards Sığacık accompanied by the folk songs of Izmir's Poplars. Before reaching Sığacık, we pass through Seferihisar. Seferihisar, far from the hustle and bustle of metropolises, full of peace and joy, has the title of being Turkey's first Cittaslow settlement. Cittaslow, which means ‘calm city’, aims to preserve the story and local identity of the city by going beyond the classical understanding of tourism.
Sığacık is a coastal town that stands out with the peace it gives to people. Hidden inside the castle walls, it resembles a complete film set with its cobblestone streets, mansions with courtyards, bay windows, wooden shutters, excellent architecture and enlightened inhabitants. Sığacık, where tiny streets weave in the middle of citrus groves , attracts us with its castle dating back to the time of Suleiman the Magnificent and its charming harbour. Here we visit the stands opened by the local people and get information about the festival. In free time, our guests who wish can shop and watch the Tangerine Festival activities. After our free time in the festival area, we move to Alaçatı.
Alaçatı fascinates us with its windmills that have been waving their wings carelessly for centuries, stone houses with cute bay windows with their joinery in pastel and vivid tones, bohemian music heard from the narrow cobblestone streets embraced by bougainvillea and geraniums, lavender-scented souvenir shops, inviting images of colourful designer workshops and the warm atmosphere of retro cafes . After completing our visits in Alaçatı and utilising our free time, we are on our way back to Marmaris close to the darkening hours. After the free dinner break, we return to Marmaris and leave you at the points where we pick you up and say goodbye with the hope of seeing you on other tours.
